Behaviour and Care

Rats exhibit a wide range of behaviours that can be tricky to decipher. Rat owners from across the world have contributed to this by providing accurate examples of what to look for.

Medical Library

It can be hard to find pictures and images of injuries and conditions in rats. Pictures are the most valuable way to compare conditions and help the community be more educated on what can happen to rats.

About Me

Hi! I'm Caspian. I am a rodent enthusiast an with a background in veterinary nursing, wildlife rehab, and biological sciences.
I have just recently completed my master's in medical parasitology and entomology and have since graduated in March of 2026.

Rat care has rapidly changed over the course of the last twenty-five years. In fact, some of the information I learned when I started owning rats in 2019 is considered outdated due to the rapidly-developing exotic pet veterinary research. Discrepancies and misconceptions run rampant in the pet rat community, and as a result I sought out to provide open-access information surrounding rat care that is backed by scientific literature, but placed in language that is easily understood by the general public.

I have spent the last two years compiling sources and information, and through the help of the community I have been able to compile a library of real-life photos, videos, and media to provide an (almost) all-encompassing collection for rat owners and professionals alike.
